Speech-Language Pathologist
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) address speech, language, and swallowing disorders, supporting student wellness and development in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning team. Under the guidance of the Special Education Administrator, SLPs screen, evaluate, and provide therapy and specialized training for students with communication disabilities. They monitor and adjust therapy based on student progress and needs while consulting with parents, staff, and administrators to address communication challenges effectively.
Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant
As an SLPA, you will support speech-language pathologists by enhancing and extending services for students with speech and language disorders. This includes addressing issues related to articulation, phonology, cognition, motor speech, dysphagia, voice, fluency, craniofacial anomalies, hearing, and language for both children and adults. Additionally, you will help with training and utilizing augmentative and alternative communication methods.
Occupational Therapist
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, provide occupational therapy treatment to special needs students enrolled in the educational programs of the Local Education Agencies (LEA). This job class administers occupational therapy assessments to determine a student’s level of function relative to the student’s age and educational placement in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensorimotor integration, self-care and activities of daily living.
Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
The job of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), under the direction of a registered Occupational Therapist (OT), was established for the purpose/s of providing direct and consultative occupational therapy services by utilizing specialized equipment and treatment techniques to designated students according to goals contained in an individual educational program (IEP) or 504 plan.
Physical Therapist
Under the guidance of the Manager, Special Services, and other assigned supervisors, the Physical Therapist delivers assessment, consultation, and direct therapy services to students with special needs enrolled in or referred to special education programs. This role involves collaborating with general and special education staff, as well as parents, to identify effective strategies for instructional support and promoting sensorimotor function in children with disabling conditions.
Physical Therapist Assistant
A Physical Therapist Assistant plays a vital role in the physical rehabilitation of students with injuries or disabilities. Working closely with a Physical Therapist, the Assistant maximizes the student’s ability to manage daily activities independently. Within the treatment plan, the assistant helps the students with strength training, stretching, and other activities and exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion.
